3 Indian Companies in Fortune 100
Three Indian founded companies have made it to Fortune’s ‘World’s 100
fastest growing companies’ list this year. While Robin Raina founded
insurance software company, Ebix is fourth on the list, Bharat Desai
co-founded IT company, Syntel is ranked 81 on the list. IT bellwether
Infosys Technologies (placed 100th), along with Internet major Google
and software giant Apple, has also been named in the list.

Writing about Infosys, Fortune said, “India’s No.2 IT firm counts Goldman Sachs and UBS among its 570 clients”.
Leading the list is Canada-based Research In Motion, the maker of
Blackberry phones. The list also features Cognizant Technology
Solutions (ranked at 90), headed by India-origin Chief Executive,
Francisco ‘Souza.
It is the first time that Fortune has opened its list of the top 100
fastest growing companies to businesses from around the world. Also
among the top 10 are, Potash Corporation, Sohu.com, Shanda Interactive
Entertainment, Sigma Designs, DG Fastchannel, CF Industries, Arena
Resources and Bruker.
To be eligible for the list, foreign companies should be traded on a
U.S. exchange and file quarterly reports. Fortune ranks the companies
on the basis of three years of revenue and profit growth and total
return.
On the contrary, this year no Indian company made it to Fortune’s
‘World’s 100 accountable companies’. Last year, there were seven Indian
companies in this list. Companies are selected for this list based on
the quality of their commitment to social and environmental goals.
