Entre card phenomenon has picked up like wildfire in the recent months, thanks to its innovative and simple way of integrating it on to any site. Its got a pretty simple logic of dropping your website or blow card, on which ever site you wish, which supports entre card drop. If the admin of the site approves, presto! you have an ad on that site. The ad last only 24 hours and will be replaced by the next entre card in the line. The best part, is that no money is involved. So you can start small and test it.

2. spottt.com :

Another link sharing website. Like entre card, it to deals with 125×125 px ads. Unlike entrecard.com spottt doesn’t allow users to choose which ads to be displayed on their site. They have there own algorithm(Spottt is owned by adbrite) which reads data and selects an ad from their database. Be careful, vulgar ad might be displayed.

3. Digg it, Stumble it or del.icio.us it :

del-icio-us

Social bookmarking always helps. Social bookmarking offer quick visibility. It will takes time for your blog post to end up in google. It takes even longer for it to climb up to the upper fold, for a specific keyword. Social bookmarking helps in accelerating that process by 100 times!

coupon

If you have coupon that is not of any worth to you, use it create that extra hype. Say, you have two movie tickets for Wednesday morning, and you don’t wish to go. Put up a blog post saying next 300 subscribers have a chance of winning two movie tickets!! Watch users scrabbling to get into your subcribtion list!

6. Link Exchanger :

This is little risky, there are soo many link exchanger websites out there. Not even half of them are effective or safe. 5 Reasons to stay away from magentocommerce! (Basical why magentocommerce sucks! )

Well, i am sure most of you out there refuse to believe in what i am about to say and may not see eye to eye regarding this topic. Before you draw any conclusion hear me out. Lets just think back a second, magentocommerce is brand new! They are soo new that, they haven’t yet released a decent stable launch! Well i will list out the reasons why i am saying magentocommerce is not stable and why it sucks!

1. BIGGIE : No body in the right mind will wait for 30 seconds for a page to load and no body gives a shit about the way the site looks if the user reponce time is 1 minute per click!

2. Not an option for shared hosts. They say magentocommerce is free under the OSL lisence but, you need to pay atleast a minimum of 500 USD for the hosting services and maintenance! Most of the people i talked to working with magentocommerce have there own box (Server)! Right now it seems to be rich web developer geek’s toy!

3. The script is quite bulky and adds extra load on your server, not to mention it lacks a few features which other shopping carts are providing such as multiple item selection and ajax add to cart features.

4. The database seems to be getting hammered! Too many things being called in and out of the mysql database

5. At the present moment ther are only 1 percent as many people who are working on and for magentocommerce as there are for os commerce or other e commerce script. So recourses will be very slim and might come with a price tag!

So, this is what i suggest for those magentocommerce admin wannabies. Give them time, wait for magentocommerce ver 2.5 or 3. Do not encourage heavy duty scripts how ever beautifully scripted they are because you will be abadoning the most important factor for a web developer, user experience - User doesn’t like to be kept on hold or waiting! When he has the cash to spend and will to buy a product, you should try to seal the deal as soon as possible before that costumer changes his mind :). If you have below 50 products, i say go for it. If you have more than 50 products don’t give this product another thought.

So, now you will like to know what the alernatives are? Well, i would recomend CS cart. It has very much stricking resemblence to magentocommerce and is even better than magentocommerce itself in some aspects like multiple item selection and ajax add to cart feature. It comes with a price tag but your intially investment will still be below what you normally need to spend to get a magentocommerce site up and running.

Hope i have offered an unbiased view on this topic. If you have any comments to share regarding this matter, feel free to shout out or belt me :).
